How to Read Music Easily in 30 Days edition by Leon Harrell Arts Photography eBooks

This is probably one of the best books on the subject. It is nicely written, the examples are clear and the author provides a free pdf copy on his website when you buy the Kindle edition (for those who have been complaining about font size). Also, it is ridiculously cheap and his website is nice and friendly. Unfortunately, in spite of the title, it is not all as easy as it sounds. If you already have a basic understanding of music notation, things will flow. If you are a beginner, you will struggle. I have already lost him on page 12 out of 100. While that probably means that I am not particulalry musically talented (a fact I will happily admit), the fact remains that Leon takes a lot of assumptions. A sentence "when we count music we normally count along with the meter, or the time signature, instead of each note and rest individually" on page 3 of lesson 1 may some easy to some but is difficult when you do not really understand what counting or metering is. My advice to the author is: do assume that you have total idiots before you. Write longer senetences, easier examples, repeat things three times if needed, and assume that they know nothing about music notation (and I mean, NOTHING) than good old English language. When you end up with a 200-page book, you will be there and you will almost certainly have the best book on the market and lots of loyal readers.

How to Read Music Easily in 30 Days edition by Leon Harrell Arts Photography eBooks Reviews

Is very easy understand and remember the place of the notes en the staff. It is very good for students.
Excellent book about the the theory of music notation. Well supported with in-line one minute videos and additional documentation to assist a novice like me . Only area I found a bit complicated was the Eastman Counting system. But I suppose it will take what every teaching material tells you. Practice, practice, and more practice.
Learning how to read music is something that I always found super hard. I have tried before, but never actually got anywhere with it. This book is different, it breaks it all down into the simplest form possible so that anybody who wants to learn music can do it pretty easily. It does not matter whether you have zero experience in the field, or just want to brush up on what you already know. Either way, this book will help teach you music in as easy and pain-free way as possible.

Anybody who wants to learn how to read music will be happy with this book.
I can't get past the first chapter. A lot of words that I have no idea of the meaning so it's hard to follow. Seems like some steps are missing or needed for me to fully understand. Maybe for others it is easy but not me I'm lost
It is not easy to learn to read music or a language simply by reading a book. You need the sounds. As I have been a professional music most of my life ( so far ) I wanted to check out this book. It does prove to be helpful as an introductory step into learning to read music. It also makes a good refresher course as well/
I was hesitant to order this because I knew it would be hard to read on my old-style but than remembered that I could read it on my PC with the app and that works well. But better yet there is a password provided for users that allows printing out the entire manual in PDF form. So you also have a hardcopy to highlight, etc. as the author recommends. I've just started on the text but it looks to me like it might be what I was needing.
I believe that this is a great tool in helping you learn how to read music. I feel that this is geared towards people that already know how to play an instrument and have some basic music knowledge but even if you don't; it still it goes into basic details in regards music theory. However, you might have to look up some things on youtube for further explanation which I would recommend for anyone learning about music theory anyway. Also the author has some links throught the book that will direct you to additional resources for further practice and lessons many of which as free.

As for learning to read music in 30 days I'm not saying its impossible, but as with anything you will get out of this book as much effort as you put in (garbage in = garbage out). The more you practice the better you will be. As the author explains some of these excercises are not a one day thing for everyone and some people might need more time grasping certain things than others.

This book will take you from the very basics such as clapping "twin-kle, twin-kle, Ii-ttle, star" to more complicated rhythms. As in regards to music notation the reading starts with a one staff and simple rhythm excercise and gradually get complicated and more staves are added later. I would recommend this book to anyone seriously interested in reading music. I would say by learning what is on this book you will save yourself a few hundred hundred from private lessons and for $2.99 I'd say it's totally worth it.
